Parents We have an open door policy, and parents can drop in at any time without previous appointment. We know how important it is for parents to feel welcome into their child’s environment and to be able to see firsthand how their child plays, learns and interacts with others. Parents are also welcome and encouraged to accompany us to our field trips.
Transition A transition period is encouraged, where a child can be gradually introduced to her/his new environment. during the first week, parents can stay with their child as long as they feel is needed, and these periods should be decreased during the course of a few days. We are very flexible in this matter and know each family’s needs are different, so we take it in a case by case basis and not a one size fits all.
With that in mind, we believe it is also very important for a child to have a routine that is disrupted as little as possible, so we try to coordinate parents visits with appropriate times, for example, come during snack and not during nap time. Also, we acknowledge once a child sees their parent in the class, he/she will want to go back home with them. this is why visits are best at the end of the day, where you can participate with your child in an activity and then head home.
Language transition Language is introduced gradually and children are allowed a transition period, where words and sentences are said both in English and Spanish and we show them objects and actions to connect to the words. they will learn naturally from watching, emulating and doing.
